Singapore-Russia relations reaffirmed in visit by Russian Federation Council chairperson

SINGAPORE - Mrs Valentina Matvienko, chairperson of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation, paid separate courtesy calls on President Tony Tan Keng Yam and Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong on Wednesday.
They reviewed and reaffirmed the growing relations between Singapore and the Russian Federation, and welcomed inter-parliamentary exchanges and the strengthening of bilateral cooperation across sectors such as trade and investment, agriculture, culture and education.
They also agreed that there was room to step up cooperation in counter-terrorism.
Mrs Matvienko is visiting Singapore from Mar 16 to 17 at the invitation of Speaker of Parliament Halimah Yacob. She will call on Speaker Halimah on Thursday.
