Bangladeshi construction worker Ali Barkat had signed a contract stating that he would be paid $1,600 each month in basic salary, but his employer has never paid him that amount.

SINGAPORE - Two weeks after Bangladeshi construction worker Ali Barkat came to Singapore to work in April last year, his wife gave birth to a baby girl.
The 32-year-old is determined to make up for missing the birth of his first child by earning enough money here to provide for his family.
