SINGAPORE-Staff at KK Women's and Children's Hospital (KKH) can work from home, compress their work week, and even take on part-time positions without compromising their career paths. Breastfeeding mothers also have a lactation room.

The hospital was on Wednesday given a special SG50 award to recognise its efforts in facilitating flexible work arrangements that have helped its employees with work-life balance.

A total of 24 companies and 41 individuals were presented with the annual Best Company for Mums awards given out by the National Trades Union Congress Women's Development Secretariat and the Tripartite Alliance for Fair and Progressive Employment Practices.

The awards usually have four categories, that recognise companies most supportive of mothers and fathers, and the most supportive colleagues and supervisors.

This year an additional SG50 Special Award was created to recognise companies which have developed dedicated and holistic support to working mothers - schemes that go beyond the statutory requirements of providing leave and staff benefits.

KKH was one of five companies given this special award. The others were DBS Bank, Cerebos Pacific, Infineon Technologies Asia Pacific and SP Services.
