SINGAPORE – A 64-year-old man was taken to hospital after his lorry was involved in an accident with another lorry on the Pan-Island Expressway (PIE) on the night of March 11.
The police and Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said they were alerted at 10.10pm to the incident involving the two lorries on the PIE towards Changi, before the Bukit Timah Expressway.
The 64-year-old, who was found trapped in the driver’s seat of a lorry, was rescued by the SCDF using hydraulic rescue equipment. He was then taken conscious to Tan Tock Seng Hospital, the SCDF said.
In a video posted on Facebook page SG Road Vigilante, a lorry is seen moving in the extreme left lane of the expressway when it hits a smaller, stationary lorry.
The smaller lorry has its hazard lights on and a warning triangle placed a few metres behind it. Upon impact, it is sent careening rightward across all four lanes of the expressway before coming to a halt against the road divider.
The lorry driver is assisting with investigations which are ongoing, the police said.
