SINGAPORE - A 52-year-old man will be charged in court on Dec 16 with dangerous driving over an incident in which he allegedly cut in front of a private bus, resulting in a collision.
Police on Dec 15 said they were alerted to a traffic accident involving a private bus and a car on Tampines Expressway (TPE) towards Changi at about 8.45am on Aug 13.
Investigations showed that the man, who had been driving the car, allegedly overtook the bus, cut in front of it and intentionally braked abruptly. This resulted in a head-to-rear collision.
The man was later arrested for dangerous driving and was suspended from driving.
If convicted, he could be fined up to $5,000, jailed for up to one year, or both.
In the case of a second or subsequent conviction, offenders could be fined up to $10,000, jailed for up to two years, or both.
They may also be disqualified from driving all classes of vehicles.
Police reminded motorists to exercise graciousness and patience on the roads.
“The police do not condone such thuggish behaviour on the roads and will not hesitate to take firm action against those who endanger the safety of other road users,” it said.
