Police are investigating a case involving the ill-treatment of a child, after a video of a man repeatedly dragging a child out of a car onto the ground was posted on social media.

Police said they were alerted on Monday at around 12.40pm to the case in Sengkang East Way.

In the video sent to citizen journalism site Stomp, the man is seen dragging the child out of the car and throwing him to the ground by the side of the road.

When the child dashes back into the car, the man walks back around the car again to pull him out.

The child then approaches the man, who appears to be berating him. The man then suddenly shoves the boy forcefully onto the grass patch.

The boy attempts to re-enter the car, but is reproached by the man.

The video ends with the pair standing by the car.

According to the unidentified netizen who posted the video on Facebook, the man left the child by the side of the road.

He returned later to look for the boy, who was being comforted by a resident of a nearby Housing Board flat.

Police investigations are ongoing.
