Man arrested for drink driving after car accident at junction of Serangoon Road and Lavender Street

SINGAPORE – A man has been arrested for drink driving after an accident involving a car and a pedestrian on the night of Oct 3.

The incident occurred at the junction of Serangoon Road and Lavender Street at around 9.10pm, according to both the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) and police.

The 71-year-old male pedestrian was taken to Tan Tock Seng Hospital, while the 37-year-old car driver was arrested for drink driving.

Photos of the accident posted on Facebook by the SGRV Front Man account show a dark saloon car stationary after hitting a traffic light, which is bent. Several migrant workers are looking on as SCDF personnel tend to the victim on the grass verge. Debris is scattered on the side of the road and pavement.

Police said their investigations are ongoing.
