A six-year-old boy who was allegedly slapped by a 38-year-old man was taken to Ng Teng Fong General Hospital.

SINGAPORE – A 38-year-old man was arrested for allegedly slapping a six-year-old boy at a shopping mall in Jurong.

The police said they received a call for assistance at 3 Gateway Drive, where Westgate mall is located, at about 2.40pm on Dec 22.

The man was subsequently arrested for voluntarily causing hurt with enhanced penalties for offences against a person below 14 years of age, the police said, adding that investigations are ongoing.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force said it was alerted to the incident at about 3.20pm.

The boy was taken to Ng Teng Fong General Hospital.

When contacted, a Westgate spokesperson said the mall was alerted to the incident at about 3.30pm and is cooperating with the authorities in their investigations.
