SINGAPORE – A 79-year-old man is among six motorists who are expected to be charged on May 21 over hit-and-run offences.
The cases all took place between August 2024 and January 2025, said the police in a statement on May 20.
The 79-year-old man was driving a car along Springside Drive on Aug 6, 2024, when he collided with a motorcyclist who sustained serious injuries, said the police.
He did not stop to render assistance to the injured motorcyclist and left the scene, they added.
The other motorists comprise four men aged between 30 and 48, and a 55-year-old woman.
The 30-year-old man faces nine charges over three hit-and-run incidents that took place when he drove his van on the Kranji Expressway on Jan 2 and collided with a car, then a taxi, before hitting a van, said the police.
The police said that motorists who are involved in accidents must stop and render assistance to the road users involved, such as by calling for an ambulance to provide medical attention to the victim.
In accidents where state property is damaged, motorists should make a police report as soon as possible.
