SINGAPORE - A 62-year-old man was arrested for drink driving after his car plunged head first into a Seletar Country Club pool on Aug 27.

The police said they were alerted to the accident at 101 Seletar Club Road at 10.05pm that day.

In a video posted on Facebook page Roads.sg, the dark-coloured car is seen in the pool with its rear in the air and headlights still on.

The driver suffered minor injuries but declined to be taken to the hospital, the police said.

The Straits Times has contacted Seletar Country Club for comment.

Police investigations are ongoing.

According to the

latest police statistics,

drink-driving accidents crept upwards in the first six months of 2024 to 96 cases, from 88 cases in the first half of 2023.

But the number of drink-driving arrests fell from 853 in the first half of 2023 to 812 in the same period in 2024.

Fatal drink-driving accidents are also on the rise, ticking up from three cases in the first half of 2022 to eight in the same period in 2023, and nine in the corresponding period in 2024.
