When she found out she won the lucky draw, she was elated that she could try authentic Italian food, never having travelled to Europe.

Madam Mary Andrews, 51, a freelance speech and drama teacher, was one of 10 Straits Times subscribers who won a dining treat for two at Italian restaurant Fratelli in Resorts World Sentosa yesterday.

"It's like I'm in Italy now, it's my first time having fine-dining Italian food. Knowing the ingredients came directly from Italy gave me lots of satisfaction."

Not only did the winners get to dine on a six-course dinner, but they also met Fratelli's celebrity chefs Roberto and Enrico Cerea, who are brothers, from restaurant Da Vittorio, a three-Michelin-star restaurant in Bergamo, Italy.

Said Madam Andrews, who took her god-daughter with her: "Meeting the brothers was very exciting. Ambience and service were excellent. The food was amazing."

The subscribers enjoyed a dinner of paccheri pasta with a special tomato sauce, pan-seared sea bass, and a modern version of a classic cheesecake, among other Italian dishes.

The 10 lucky Straits Times subscribers won the dinner for two worth $376, after taking part in the contest held by the ST+ loyalty programme.

They had to answer a simple question and were chosen through a lucky draw. The dinner was hosted by Straits Times food correspondent Eunice Quek.

ST+ started in April last year to reward subscribers with special discounts and benefits offered by more than 100 partners.
