SINGAPORE – A lorry knocked down several trees by the road and mounted a kerb in Ang Mo Kio on the morning of April 17, prompting a police investigation.
The vehicle was believed to have skidded along Ang Mo Kio Avenue 1 towards Lorong Chuan, police said.
A 33-year-old male lorry driver is assisting with investigations.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said one person sustained minor injuries but declined to be taken to the hospital.
The SCDF and the police were alerted to the incident at around 7.30am.
When The Straits Times arrived at the scene at around 8.30am, a lorry with its front bumper dented and right headlights dislodged was seen stationary on a pavement next to the construction site of the Ang Mo Kio ActiveSG swimming complex.
A handful of trees – uprooted or snapped – lined the walkway.
The National Parks Board said it found seven trees damaged as a result of the incident after it was informed at 8.10am. The obstruction was cleared by 10am, it added.
