Lasalle College of the Arts student Cheryl Chou, 20, was crowned Miss Universe Singapore 2016 last night at the grand finals of the beauty pageant, triumphing over 14 other finalists. During the question and answer segment, she gave what judge Nuraliza Osman, national director of Miss Universe Singapore Organisation, deemed the "best answer" out of the top five contestants. Ms Chou described the true Singapore woman as a confident person who is "not afraid of failure". This year's pageant was co-organised by The New Paper and Miss Universe Singapore Organisation.
