Participants painstakingly putting metal types on a composing stick to make name cards at a hands-on workshop. Titled Printing From The Past: Letterpress And Typesetting, it gave an introduction to letterpress printing and basic typesetting, the tools of the trade and the basics of typography. Participants learnt about the stages of typesetting, including layout and packing. They also got the chance to operate the press. The workshop is held in conjunction with the Singapore STories: Then, Now, Tomorrow exhibition at the ArtScience Museum. Admission to the ST exhibition, which runs till Oct 4, is free. The last three workshop sessions will be held on Sept 9. Each session lasts an hour and is limited to 12 people. Tickets cost $15. Book them at http://bit.ly/1SZqFr7
