SINGAPORE - Ikea customers who have purchased two particular models of safety gates are being asked to return them.

Although the Patrull Klamma and Patrull Smidig pressure-mounted safety gates are safe for use in doorways between rooms or at the bottom of staircases, there is a risk of falling and injury if the gate is mounted at the top of a staircase as it has a lower metal bar that could trip people.

Ikea has also received reports that these gates are sometimes not able to stay in position because of insufficient friction between the gate and walls.

Customers who would like to return their product should make sure that the date stamp on it is "1510" or earlier.

They should go to the Exchange and Returns Counters at either Ikea Tampines or Ikea Alexandra to get a full refund. Patrull safety gate extension units may also be returned for a full refund. A receipt is not required.

Customers who would like to continue using these models should go to the exchange and returns counters at Ikea Tampines or Ikea Alexandra or call 6786-6868 for updated user instructions and warning labels.
