SINGAPORE - Don't be surprised if you spot bright red train cabins and festive pineapple motifs on stairs that wish you good health - two Chinese New Year-themed trains have been launched on two train lines.
The Land Transport Authority (LTA) launched two such trains on the North East Line (NEL) and North-South East-West Lines in collaboration with SBS Transit, SMRT and the Kreta Ayer-Kim Seng Citizen Consultative Committee.
The designs include bright blue interiors on the NEL, with spring blossoms and paw prints for the Year of the Dog.
The NEL station platform at Outram Park MRT Station is done up in the festive decor, with a pineapple motif on the stairs that has Chinese well wishes on it.
This year, there will also be five themed buses on Services 80, 143, 147, 166 and 174, which ply routes in areas like Chinatown, Toa Payoh, Sengkang, Jurong East and Clementi.
LTA began introducing themed trains in recent years, with a red-and-white train for National Day in 2016, a Christmas-themed train in December that year, as well as Hari Raya- and Deepavali-themed trains last year.
The festive decor will festoon the trains until March 2.
