Urine-test item wins healthcare award

An innovative container used for urine tests has won the top innovation prize at this year's Healthcare Suppliers Awards.

The RAS Urine Transfer System features a unique seal that lets medical technologists obtain urine samples twice as fast while eliminating odours in the lab.

The awards, organised by the National Healthcare Group (NHG), National University Hospital, Khoo Teck Puat Hospital and the Agency for Integrated Care, seek to recognise companies that have helped improve Singapore's healthcare system through better productivity and innovation.

A total of 10 companies won awards.

Two left friend's body on staircase landing

Two people were convicted yesterday of depositing their friend's body on a staircase landing and of stealing from the dead man.

Mr Ramdan Ishak, 37, was found dead by Juwita Mohd Yusof, 36, and Karim Arshad, 42, on June 3, when all three were staying at a friend's place.

As both Juwita and Karim were wanted by the Central Narcotics Bureau, they decided not to alert the authorities, but to dispose of the body between the sixth and seventh floors of a block in Dover Road.

They also pocketed Mr Ramdan's phone, his sling bag, a pen and a pair of earphones.
