Eighty senior citizens launched what they hoped would be spheres of influence into Marina Bay yesterday. The beneficiaries from the Peace-Connect Seniors Activity Centre and O'Joy Care Services penned their hopes for 2016 on giant balls, then threw them into the water.
By New Year's Eve, a spectacular visual installation of 20,000 wishing spheres will be formed, carrying the collective hopes and wishes of people from Singapore.
They will be in place for the 11th Marina Bay Singapore Countdown, where there will be an eight-minute firework display accompanied by an original score composed by music director Julian Wong.
Members of the public can pen their dreams and resolutions on the wishing spheres at the Esplanade Courtyard and Esplanade Concourse until Dec 20. Singaporeans overseas can also make virtual wishes at www.marinabaycountdown.sg.
