I may be at risk of revealing my age, but it did not seem too long ago that Singaporeans aspired to have the five Cs. For the benefit of the slightly younger generation, the five Cs refer to having ready cash, a condominium, a credit card, a car and a country club membership. These were often seen as the yardsticks of success.
However, the pursuit of the five Cs is arguably irrelevant in this day and age. The race for material possessions such as a country club membership and a condominium unit has evolved into a race to "Marie Kondo" our lifestyles. Ms Kondo is the Japanese organising consultant famous for her method of keeping only things that "spark joy".
