Older women seeking IVF treatment must go through extra steps to ensure they understand pregnancy risks

Women who are above the age of 45 and are seeking assisted reproductive technology (ART) treatment will have to undergo extra steps at the clinics to ensure that they understand the risks of getting pregnant at a later age.

These include more elaborate medical assessments, social counselling and a compulsory one-week break after counselling before patients can give their consent for ART procedures.
