SINGAPORE - An "unanticipated" surge in interest in the National Steps Challenge has led to a shortage of fitness trackers needed for participation, after more than half a million people signed up in about two months.

The Health Promotion Board (HPB), the organiser of the challenge, is in the midst of replenishing stocks of the tracker, which is given free to eligible participants.
