Elderly woman from Geylang Lorong 6 is fifth dengue victim to die this year

More than 5,400 people across the island have fallen ill with dengue this year - more than four times the number from the same period last year.

SINGAPORE - An 84-year-old woman living in Geylang Lorong 6 has become the fifth person to die of dengue fever this year.

The woman, who died last Friday (June 14), was one of eight people living in Lorong 6 to be infected with the mosquito-borne disease. The area is part of an active Guillemard/Geylang cluster of 111 who have been infected so far, 21 of them in the past fortnight.
