An explanation from the Singapore Dental Council (SDC) has served to fuel rather than quell dentists' unhappiness over what they perceive as an attempt to protect the turf for specialists.
There has been a lot of speculation about dentists needing further training before offering more high-risk procedures like those for implants and wisdom tooth surgery.
