SINGAPORE - Alexandra Hospital reopened its doors on Tuesday (Aug 11), with a section of the hospital ready to take in stable patients from other public hospitals who require a longer period of care.

Medical services, however, are currently limited to inpatient care supported by allied health services.

It has no emergency department, and the public are advised to visit the nearest public hospitals - Singapore General Hospital and National University Hospital - for emergency cases.

Specialist clinics will be opened progressively from the first quarter of 2016, while more details on other medical services will be announced at a later date.

Singapore's only colonial-style hospital, which is managed by Sengkang Health, closed for renovations on June 30.

All its patients were transferred to the newly-opened Ng Teng Fong Hospital in Jurong.
