But she stressed that egg freezing, like other assisted reproductive technology treatments, should not be seen as an option to allow women to delay parenthood.

Dr Loh Seong Feei, medical director of Thomson Fertility Centre, said the lifting of the age limit of 45 for IVF has "no meaning" if social egg freezing is not allowed.
