SINGAPORE – A child was taken to hospital after being freed from an escalator at a shopping mall in Buangkok on Feb 22.
In footage of the incident posted on a public Facebook page that same day, a woman can be seen squatting by a girl whose foot is caught in a stationary escalator.
She soothes the child who seems to let out a wail.
In the video, another woman can be heard on the phone with the authorities, asking for help. She says she is not the girl’s mother.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said it received a call for assistance at 70 Compassvale Bow – the address of the Sengkang Grand Mall – at about 6.50pm on Feb 22.
The child’s left foot was trapped in the side of an escalator and had to be released using rescue equipment.
SCDF took the girl to KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital, it said.
