Generation Grit: Teen cared for dementia-stricken dad for 10 lonely years

Ms Melissa Chan was 14 when her father was diagnosed with young onset dementia. She became one of his caregivers for 10 years and, after he died, founded Project We Forgot to give young caregivers a platform to share their experiences.

She became her father's caregiver when he was diagnosed with young onset dementia and Melissa Chan now channels her experience into helping others in the same boat. This is her story in our ongoing series on millennials who inspire us.

From a sociable and chatty man, Miss Melissa Chan's father became withdrawn, depressed and forgetful.
