Generation Grit: Never giving up on leading a full life, despite a cruel muscle wasting disease

Mr Shalom Lim suffers from Duchenne muscular dystrophy, a degenerative muscular disease. The 24-year-old has published a book of artworks to raise funds for others like him and is currently pursuing a degree.

Shalom Lim, 24, lives with a debilitating disease that will eventually claim his life. Yet, he never gave up on his quest to excel in his studies and he hopes to help others as a counsellor. This is the latest in the series on millennials who persevere despite tremendous odds.

SINGAPORE - For most of his life, Mr Shalom Lim, 24, has seen his abilities robbed from him, one after another.

He was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, a rare genetic disease characterised by progressive muscle weakness and wasting, at the age of three months.
