SINGAPORE – Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh called Prime Minister Lawrence Wong on May 8 to congratulate him on the outcome of Singapore’s general election.
On May 3, the PAP, led by PM Wong, took 65.57 per cent of the vote
During the phone call, the two leaders reaffirmed the strong ties between Singapore and Vietnam, said Singapore’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) on May 8.
In March, bilateral relations between the two countries were elevated to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership (CSP)
In their conversation, PM Wong and Mr Chinh also discussed deepening cooperation in areas such as the digital economy, renewable energy, carbon credits and people-to-people ties.
They also looked forward to concluding the plan of action on the CSP’s implementation, MFA said.
On May 7, the leaders of Asean countries Cambodia and Thailand also congratulated PM Wong on his win
