SINGAPORE – Home-grown retail chain Gain City Best-Electric is one of Singapore’s two designated air-conditioner recyclers. It has also partnered the authorities to expand recycling efforts and recover materials like metals and gases through an eco-friendly process.
These efforts are among the reasons it has been named Asia’s most influential company at the Asia Corporate Excellence and Sustainability (Aces) Awards 2024.
Gain City – a retailer of air-conditioners, consumer electronics, information technology products, bedding, furniture and home solutions – is celebrating the win with its customers by absorbing the 9 per cent goods and services tax on selected items, excluding Apple products, from Dec 3 to 29. Customers can view the full list of applicable products on its website.
The award recognises Gain City’s achievements in customer-centricity, innovation, sustainability and operational excellence.
The Aces Awards, organised annually by MORS Group, recognise organisations for their exemplary leadership, sustainability and influence in Asia. The award ceremony was held at the InterContinental hotel in Bangkok, Thailand, on Nov 15.
Other Singapore companies had been named most influential in previous editions of the awards – security solutions provider Aetos Holdings in 2022 and engineering company Meinhardt Group International in 2018.
Apart from its commitment to sustainability, Gain City was also cited by the awards organiser for its innovative practices and comprehensive services.
The company has used technology and artificial intelligence solutions to optimise operations, enhance e-commerce platforms and meet evolving consumer demands, the organiser said.
It also has a team of technicians certified by the Building and Construction Authority to better serve its customers.
“This award is a testament to Gain City’s unwavering commitment to excellence and sustainability,” said the company’s managing director Kenny Teo.
Founded in 1981, Gain City now employs more than 800 people and has 11 outlets across Singapore.
The company will be opening a second megastore that is 10 storeys high in Tampines in 2026. The first megastore, located in Sungei Kadut, was opened in 2015.
