SINGAPORE - Employers can expect to pick up strategies for developing the skills of their workers at a forum at this year’s SkillsFuture Festival, which will run from July 9 to Aug 21.
The SkillsFuture Forum, the festival’s opening event, is titled Recognising Skills, Building Careers. Attendees can find out how companies and industry bodies are working together to certify and recognise the skills that will improve the employability of workers.
The event, organised by SkillsFuture Singapore in partnership with The Business Times, will be held at the Lifelong Learning Institute in Paya Lebar. Education Minister Chan Chun Sing, the guest of honour, will deliver the opening address.
A forum, moderated by BT’s associate editor of news Lee Su Shyan, will feature four speakers:
Ms Dilys Boey, chief executive, Workforce Singapore;
Mr Lim Minhan, head of consulting, Ensign InfoSecurity;
Mr Jedrick Tan, chief executive officer, Fei Siong FastFood; and
Ms Gloria Arlini, chief operating officer and country lead, Generation Singapore.
The SkillsFuture Festival will comprise physical, online and hybrid events pitched at companies, workers and students.
These include two roadshows, one from July 11 to 14 and the other from Aug 15 to 18, where attendees can learn about the in-demand skills and jobs in growth sectors, career and training opportunities, as well as SkillsFuture initiatives. Career coaches and “skills ambassadors” will be on hand to give personalised career guidance.
Individuals can also visit the Thrive@Libraries events held at the National Library Board’s libraries, to learn about personal development and professional growth through topics such as artificial intelligence, career development and personal well-being.
There will also be roadshows on the healthcare and early childhood and education sectors; these will be held from July 18 to 19, and July 20 to 21, respectively.
Other events include a series of masterclasses, seminars and networking sessions on the growth opportunities in the care, digital and green economies, targeted at enterprises, as well as a work-study fair to connect fresh graduates with industry partners and employers.
