SINGAPORE - Members of the public can usher in the New Year by paying a visit to the historic Tanjong Pagar Railway.

The station, which was gazetted as a national monument in 2011, will open its doors from 9am to 6pm on New Year's Day.

Visitors are encouraged to take photos of the station and sketch their impressions, said the Singapore Land Authority. Drawings deposited at the station's former ticketing counter may be chosen to be displayed at future openings.

Tanjong Pagar Railway Station typically opens on public holidays to allow more people to enjoy the state property. It last opened on Christmas Day.
