SINGAPORE - A fire engulfed a coffee shop in Geylang early on Wednesday (Oct 25) morning, forcing occupants of the building to evacuate.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) was alerted to the fire at a coffeeshop along Geylang Lorong 23 at about 2.15am.

It sent a fire engine, a Red Rhino, a pair of fire bikes and one support vehicle to the scene.

Upon arrival, SCDF officers used a compressed air foam backpack and a water jet to extinguish the fire, which involved the contents of a store.

There were no reported injuries.

The cause of fire is being investigated, SCDF said.

Witnesses at the scene heard explosions, reported Lianhe Wanbao.

The second floor of the building is a 24-hour Internet cafe, while the third floor houses a dormitory.

About 15 people comprising customers and staff were evacuated from the building, according to Lianhe Wanbao.

They were allowed to return only at 5am.
