Fire engine sinks partly into courtyard outside VivoCity

SINGAPORE - A fire engine was seen partly sunk into some broken tiles outside popular mall VivoCity on Monday evening.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said that the vehicle was moving off after a fire safety inspection when its rear wheel sank into the courtyard outside the mall and dislodged several tiles. No one was injured.

Officers were seen unloading a hose from the fire engine on Monday evening. It is understood that water was drained from the vehicle to lighten it.

The truck is still at the scene as of 11pm on Monday, and the area has been cordoned off.

SCDF is working closely with VivoCity's management to investigate the incident.
