SINGAPORE – Six people evacuated on their own after a stall in Amoy Street Food Centre caught fire on Jan 19 morning, said the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF).

In a video posted on Complaint Singapore page on Facebook on Jan 20, the inside of the Yuan Chun Famous Lor Mee hawker stall is shown engulfed in flames while a man moves some items away from the front of the stall.

As at 9.15pm on Jan 20, the post has garnered more than 600 shares and 1,000 reactions.

In response to The Straits Times’ queries, SCDF said it was alerted to the incident at 7 Maxwell Road at 4.55am on Jan 19.

The fire, which involved contents of a stall in a market, was extinguished by SCDF using a water jet.

There were no reported injuries.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
