Fire at Jurong West flat; 40 residents evacuated from building

SINGAPORE - A fire broke out broke out at a Housing & Development Board block at Jurong West on Monday (Oct 31) night.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said that they were alerted to the fire at Block 402, Jurong West Street 42 at about 8.40pm.

The fire, believed to be in a ninth floor unit, was extinguished by SCDF using one water jet. No forcible entry was conducted.

About 40 people were evacuated by police officers.

Four women, who showed signs of hypertension, refused to be taken to hospital, SCDF said.

SCDF sent two fire engines, one Red Rhino, one ambulance and two support vehicles to the scene.

It is investigating the cause of the fire.
