Family and religion are at the core of moving service supervisor Kang Chee Keong's about-turn from heroin addict to filial son.

"I used to think that taking drugs was a personal choice, without considering how it affected the people around me," Mr Kang told The Straits Times at The Helping Hand, a halfway house where he works.
