To his closest colleagues, former police officer Mirkhan Ariffin Ahmad was often referred to as "Ayah Fin" in Malay, or Father Fin.

The nickname came about because Mr Mirkhan had married early in life, and was regarded as a father figure by colleagues from Tanglin Police Division and Police Training Command (Tracom) before leaving the force last year.
