Singapore must not let guard down at key security sites: Chan Chun Sing

SINGAPORE - The Republic must maintain vigilance and readiness at a time when security is "volatile in different parts of the world", Second Minister for Defence Chan Chun Sing said during a visit to Jurong Island on Thursday.

The nation's guard must be kept up, especially at protected venues, added Mr Chan, who is also the Minister for Social and Family Development.

He was visiting operationally-ready National Servicemen from the 807th Battalion, Singapore Infantry Regiment, who have been deployed to keep watch at the protected site.

The Singapore Armed Forces has been conducting security operations at secured areas - such as Changi Airport, Jurong Island and Sembawang Wharves - since 2001.
