In 2024, the Normal and Express streams, as the Singapore education system has known them for 40 years, will cease to exist. When this happens, all students will take a common national examination at the end of secondary school.

SINGAPORE - I asked my 16-year-old son and 14-year-old daughter what they thought about the Government's decision to do away with the Normal (Technical), Normal (Academic) and Express streams.
No big deal, both said; a stark contrast to the mainly positive reactions from parents and netizens after Education Minister Ong Ye Kung made the announcement on Tuesday (March 5).
