SINGAPORE - To help Primary 1 pupils and their parents to transition from pre-school to primary school, a new parent-child activity book has been introduced.

The book, first launched at the Education Ministry's Work Plan Seminar last year (2015), contains tips and activities that encourage parent and child conversations, and helps them to adjust to the routines the children will practise in school.

All parents of pupils entering primary schools this year received a copy.

On the first day of the new school year on Monday (Jan 4), Acting Minister for Education (Schools) Ng Chee Meng, together with Parliamentary Secretary for Education Muhammad Faishal Ibrahim, visited Ahmad Ibrahim Primary School in Yishun, where he interacted with Primary 1 pupils and their parents.

Mr Ng encouraged the pupils to enjoy their school years. He also urged parents to be more involved in their children and to support them in their learning journey.
