Hokkien clan group sets standard for parent volunteers

Move intended to make it less of a contest for those trying to send kids to affiliated schools

It does not matter if you have chalked up 80 hours or 400 hours of volunteer work with one of Singapore's largest Chinese clan associations.

The Singapore Hokkien Huay Kuan has spelt out a common standard for its parent volunteers from this year's Primary 1 registration - to make it less of a race to outdo one another for those who want to send their children to its affiliated primary schools.
