Teachers' Day special: A poor boy's first gift

Growing up without a cent to his name, he never forgot the day his form teacher gave him a badminton racquet

He was 10 years old but had never received a gift from anyone - not at Christmas, New Year or even on his birthday.

So when Mr James Tai got a badminton racquet from his New Town Primary School form teacher in 1968, it was a day he would never forget.
