SINGAPORE – An officer who was driving a police vehicle allegedly left the scene after a collision with a cyclist on June 6, the police said in a statement on June 7.

The incident happened on Keppel Road towards the Marina Coastal Expressway at about 3.10pm.

The male cyclist, 41, was conscious when taken to Singapore General Hospital, according to the police and Singapore Civil Defence Force.

Preliminary investigations found that the driver, a 30-year-old regular officer from the Special Operations Command (SOC), allegedly left the scene as he was not aware of the crash until the Traffic Police contacted the SOC.

The officer returned to the scene immediately upon being informed.

He is assisting with investigations for driving without due consideration of other road users and for causing hurt.

He has been removed from driving duties while police investigations are ongoing, the statement said.
