SINGAPORE – A 44-year-old man is assisting with police investigations following an accident involving his car and a motorcycle on May 15.

The police and the Singapore Civil Defence Force said they were alerted to the accident at the junction of Stevens Road and Draycott Park at about 6.40pm that day.

The motorcyclist, a 58-year-old man, was taken conscious to Singapore General Hospital, they added.

In dashcam footage uploaded to the SG Road Vigilante Facebook page, two cars are seen stopping before a yellow box in Stevens Road in the direction of the PIE. The cars occupy the middle and right lanes in the three-lane road.

A silver car from the opposite side of Stevens Road then makes a right turn into Draycott Park using the yellow box at the junction.

As this car crosses the box, a motorcycle in the left lane of Stevens Road heading straight in the direction of the PIE goes past one of the stationary cars and hits the left rear door of the silver car.

After the collision, the motorcyclist, who appears to be a food delivery rider, is seen lying on the road about a metre from his bike, with some of his belongings scattered farther away.

The car, its left rear door dented, stops immediately in Draycott Park.

According to

figures the Traffic Police (TP) released in February,

motorcyclists account for a disproportionate number of accidents and fatalities on Singapore’s roads.

Motorcycles make up only 14.7 per cent of Singapore’s total vehicle population, but figures showed that motorcyclists and pillion riders accounted for more than half of all traffic accidents and fatalities.

In 2024, TP figures showed there were 85 deaths of motorcyclists and pillion riders, up from 68 in 2023.

Police investigations into the accident are ongoing.
