A 38-year-old male driver is assisting with investigations after an accident on the BKE involving two motorcycles and two cars on Chinese New Year Eve, police said on Feb 1.

In response to queries, police said they were alerted at 11.10am to the accident, which took place on the expressway towards Woodlands Checkpoint on Jan 28.

A 28-year-old male motorcyclist was taken conscious to Woodlands Health Campus, said the Singapore Civil Defence Force.

In multiple videos circulated online, a white multi-purpose vehicle is seen colliding with two motorcycles that are travelling on either side of the vehicle. Upon impact, one of the motorcycles then collides with another vehicle in the right lane.

Cargo coordinator Novin Raj, 33, who witnessed the incident, said he called an ambulance and stayed with one of the injured riders at the scene.

The ambulance arrived within 10 minutes, he added.

The motorcyclist, who wished to be known only as Mr Wai, said he suffered multiple scratches, including one on his right elbow, and was hospitalised for a night. He had to miss his family’s reunion dinner in Johor as a result.

Mr Wai, who works as a chef, is now recuperating at home and said he will return to work after his 10-day medical leave.
