SINGAPORE - A 40-year-old trailer truck driver was arrested after his vehicle, which was carrying a load that made it more than 4.5m tall, was filmed slamming into a flyover on the PIE on Jan 6.

A video posted on the SG Road Vigilante Facebook group shows the green trailer truck travelling along the expressway carrying what appears to be an orange structure with a tall frame.

As it approaches the flyover, the frame comes into contact with the underside of the flyover, causing it to become partly dislodged from the vehicle. The trailer truck then comes to a stop along the side of the road.

In response to queries from The Straits Times, the police said they were alerted to the accident along the PIE towards Changi Airport at about 5.25pm.

Police said that the man was arrested for driving a heavy motor vehicle with an overall height of more than 4.5m without being escorted by a police officer or an auxiliary police officer.

There were no injuries reported.

In November 2024, a 55-year-old lorry driver was

arrested after his overheight vehicle

damaged the Cairnhill Circle entrance of the CTE tunnel and resulted in closure of the slip road that led to it.

Similarly, in August 2024, a 39-year-old man was arrested after the overheight tipper truck he was driving

dislodged light fittings and lane-use signs

on the ceiling along a section of the CTE tunnel.
