SINGAPORE – A 40-year-old male cyclist was taken to hospital after a hit-and-run accident in Jalan Besar on the evening of May 27.

In response to queries, the police said they were alerted to the accident that involved a bicycle, car and bus along Jalan Besar towards Bencoolen Street at 6.25pm.

The cyclist was conscious when he was taken to Tan Tock Seng Hospital, the police and Singapore Civil Defence Force said.

The car driver was not at the scene when police arrived.

In video footage uploaded on the Singapore Roads Accident.Com Facebook page, a silver car can be seen after the collision with an SMRT bus, its bonnet crushed.

SMRT Buses deputy managing director Vincent Gay said bus service 67 was stationary at a bus stop along Jalan Besar when a car hit the rear end of the vehicle.

There were no reported injuries among passengers on board, he said, adding that the bus driver ensured that they were all able to alight safely at the bus stop before continuing their journey on another bus.

“We are cooperating with the police in their investigations,” he said.
