SINGAPORE - A 44-year-old male bus driver was arrested on Jan 7 after an accident in Pioneer Road North left a cyclist dead.

Photos circulating online of the scene show an orange and yellow private bus next to a blue police tent, which is typically used to cover a body in a public place.

A bicycle is seen next to the tent.

Responding to queries from The Straits Times, the police said they were alerted to the accident in Pioneer Road North, on a slip road to Jurong West Avenue 4, at about 7.20am.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) received a call for assistance about 10 minutes later.

The cyclist, a 61-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene by an SCDF paramedic.

The bus driver was arrested for driving without reasonable consideration to other road users causing death, said the police, adding that investigations are ongoing.
