SINGAPORE – The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles have made a comeback to McDonald’s in Singapore, but they are looking a little cuter than usual: Is that a bow on your head, Leonardo?

In an Instagram post on Aug 28, McDonald’s Singapore announced it would be launching a series of eight Happy Meal toys featuring characters from Sanrio, the company behind the Hello Kitty franchise.

Alongside Hello Kitty, fan favourites My Melody, Kuromi and Cinnamoroll also make their appearance in the crossover, dressing up as the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles – Leonardo, Raphael, Michaelangelo and Donatello.

The promotion featuring both of the ever-popular franchises has already begun as at 11am on Aug 28.

In a Happy Meal – a set meal aimed at children – a toy or book is bundled with food items and a drink.

Those who purchase Happy Meals can choose between two featured toys, with the offerings changing every week.

  • Week 1 (Aug 28 to Sept 3): Kuromi x Michaelangelo and Hello Kitty x Leonardo

  • Week 2 (Sept 4 to 10): My Melody x Donatello and Hello Kitty x Raphael

  • Week 3 (Sept 11 to 17): My Melody x Leonardo and Cinnamoroll x Michaelangelo

  • Week 4 (Sept 18 to 24): Kuromi x Raphael and Cinnamoroll x Donatello

The toys were previously launched in McDonald’s outlets in the US on Aug 12, and in Malaysia on July 3.

However, the US launch saw a total of 12 figures, including four that are not being offered in Singapore – green variants of Hello Kitty dressed up as Donatello, Raphael, Michaelangelo, as well as Badtz-Maru dressed up as Leonardo.
